TitleJanuary 2011 Flood Event - Debris left after the North Pine River flooded DescriptionOn 11 January 2011 a major flood event occurred in the North Pine River. This flood event was the combination of above-average levels of rainfall over an extended period prior to 6 January 2011 and peaked on 11 January 2011, thus impacting on the North Pine Dam and the surrounding catchment areas. The North Pine Dam operators had to open five floodgates on 11 January 2011. This photograph was taken just after 11 January 2011 looking south while standing on the AJ Wyllie Bridge (northbound) over the North Pine River. The bridge mainly seen in the photograph is the AJ Wyllie Bride (northbound) which was substantially damaged during the flood and also the railing of the higher bridge the AJ Wyllie Bridge (southbound) on the left side of the photograph. The reconstruction of the AJ Wyllie Bridge (northbound) involved the demolition of the existing northbound bridge structure and the reconstruction of a new two lane bridge on the same alignment as the AJ Wyllie Bridge (southbound). The photograph also shows the debris and rubbish caught up between both bridges and the side railings of both bridges. There are also a lot of people walking around looking at all the damage.
